Michigan currently has a Democratic trifecta. A trifecta in the context of state government refers to when one political party holds majorities in both chambers of the state legislature and the governor’s office. In Michigan, the Democratic Party controls the offices of governor, secretary of state, attorney general, and both chambers of the state legislature. This is the first time in almost 40 years that Democrats have control of the Michigan House of Representatives, Michigan Senate, and the Michigan Governor’s Mansion.
